August 27, 2018
Robinsons Galleria, Cinema 7 (Seat K25)

Cast:
Constance Wu as Rachel Chu
Henry Golding as Nick Young
Michelle Yeoh as Eleanor Sung-Young
Gemma Chan as Astrid Leong-Teo

Directed by:
Jon M. Chu

The Story
I can say that this is a typical story of an Asian mom who needs to approve the chosen soon-to-be-life-partner of their kids. Meeting the parent/s are the most dramatic scene of this type gathering.

The Actors
Hat's off for Henry Golding for this one. For being his first time acting career ever is not a bad choice. In fact, he's really a good fit. Not having a six-pack-abs is not a hindrance to be liked by lot of girls.

I don't know why but I love Gemma Chan's character as Astrid. And I'm really convinced that she's crazy rich and fashion icon.

The Best Part
Rachel's (Constance Wu) real talk with Eleanor (Michelle Yeoh) while playing Mahjong.

Verdict
I love the story. So relatable. Not for being crazy rich of course, duh, but being having an Asian mom who's meeting a girl that is never enough for her son.

I was expecting that Kris Aquino's (Princess Intan) character to be relevant to the story because of the interview to the book writer Kevin Kwan once said that she's the highlight of the story. Wait, what? How come? Being a writer of an article that has been criticized be a highlight to the film? But I must admit, her entrance is kinda a highlight. Maybe, in that case, I would have to agree. You can feel that she's an important person to be in that room of rich people's gathering, the weeding. But her appearance can be easily remove if they wan't to because it will not affect the story. AT ALL!

But no matter, I still love it. It made me cry, laugh and fall in love with Singapore. The only out of the Country I've been to, so a little bit bias.
